Actor Ranveer Singh, one of the powerhouse actors of Bollywood, has always mentioned in many interviews that he doesn’t come from a film background. However, Ranveer has filmy connection. Not many known but according to reports in News 18, Ranveer’s paternal grandmother Chand Burke was an actress.

Chand, after her divorce with film-writer Niranjan in 1954, remarried Sundar Singh Bhavnani, a businessman. Chand and Sundar had two kids together, daughter Tonya and son Jagjit. Jagjit Bhavnani is Ranveer’s father.

Ranveer’s grandmother Chand’s first Bollywood break was in Boot Polish, which released in 1954. The veteran actor Raj Kapoor was the one to give Chand her break in Bollywood. She played a pivotal role of a cruel aunt who tormented her orphaned niece and nephew. Chand’s career lasted from 1946 to 1969, where she appeared in many Punjabi films as well. She was also known as, ‘Dancing Lily of Punjab’.
