Dulquer Salmaan, an actor and producer, has grown to love the Ulavucharu biryani that is served there. He is a well-known actor that dominates the business because of his great acting chops and fashionable appearance. The actor is a superstar and has been leading the industry for a very long time. So, the actor visited Vijaywada and ate Ulavucharu biryani, and this biryani has become his favorite of him.

The word Ulavucharu is derived from Ulava means horse gram, and charu is rasam. So it means horse gram soup. The horse gram is popular in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha. This biryani is made in veg, but the meat is also added at some places. The actor also shared a photo of having this biryani at Vijaywada while promoting his film.

Let’s take a look at the recipe and ingredients

Take 1/2 cup horse gram, 1 cup rice, 2 cups of water, mint leaves, bay leaves, salt, oil, biryani masala, and some chopped veggies. Soak dal for 8 hours and then pressure cook it. Cook the rice with bay leaves and mint leaves. Add cumin, star anise, chopped green Chilli, and onion to a pan, and roast it for a while. Add vegetables and dry spices. Add tamarind and cooked horse gram. Cook until the veggies are soft and tender. Then layer the biryani with rice and horse gram gravy. Then put the lid and keep it on dum to make a yummy biryani.
