Batla House aims to project the truth behind the 2008 encounter with terrorists that took place at Batla House in Jamia Nagar in New Delhi. Recently, the makers gave a sneak peek of the filming of the Batla House. Recently, John took to his Instagram handle and shared another poster of the film. He captioned his post as, “EK TERRORIST KO MAARNEY KE LIYE SARKAR JO INAAM DETI HAI USSEY ZYADA TOH TRAFFIC POLICE HAWALADAR EK HAFTEY MEIN KAMA SAKTA HAI… John is playing the role of ACP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav in the investigative drama. Batla House is based on the real story of the controversial encounter of Indian Mujahideen terrorists eleven years ago in Delhi.
The trailer of the film begins with John and his team attacking a group of terrorists in a house, followed by a shootout. The trailer then shows the criticism that follows the encounter. It is termed a fake encounter and John is left to prove otherwise.
The infamous Batla House encounter took place on September 19, 2008. The operation was conducted to nab Indian Mujahideen terrorists at Batla House in Delhi. In the encounter, two suspected terrorists were killed – Atif Ameen and Mohammad Sajid and two others – Mohammad Saif and Zeeshan – were arrested. A fifth suspect, Ariz Khan, escaped. Mrunal Thakur plays the role of John’s wife in the film. The trailer also shows Nora Fatehi and glimpses of a dance number performed by the actress.
Batla House is directed by Nikkhil Advani and written by Ritesh Shah. It will hit the big screen on August 15, 2019.
