25 years passed since Hero No.1 hit the theatres. The film featured Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, followed by stellar chemistry between the two. But even though so many years have passed, the film just acts like old wine with more laughter banter. But what makes it this one-of-a-kind comedy film from the 90s? Well, definitely its music play a part, but also the storyline that adapts a beautiful family drama-comedy film, where the boy puts efforts to convince the girl’s family, leaving his privileged life and turns a cook in their house.
David Dhawan, the director talking about it said, “I would say that he (Govinda) is like a spoilt younger brother whose funny bone was discovered by me. In fact, it was through my movies that the comedy tag started to follow him,” He further added, “Making people cry is very easy, but tickling their funny bones and making them cry out of sheer laughter is an art.” as quoted by the Indian Express.
For the unversed, “Hero No. 1 is also among the few David Dhawan films that had a massive budget and were shot across France, Switzerland and Germany. Even the cast was hand-picked with ace actors like Kader Khan, Paresh Rawal, Himani Shivpuri, Satish Shah, Rita Bhaduri, and Tiku Talsania, among others.” as Indian Express stated.
If you haven’t watched the film yet, then it’s definitely time that you go and watch it now.
