1. Call Me by Your Name
Call Me by Your Name is a vivid meditation on the impermanence of first loves, and it is one of the most gorgeously directed films of this awards season. You can practically feel the sexual tension palpitating through the screen as Chalamet plays the teenage love interest of an older American doctoral student (Armie Hammer). It’s a triumph for LGBTQI cinema, a triumph for Guadagnino’s directing skills, and a triumph for Chalamet’s flexibility as an actor.
2. Lady Bird
Chalamet, a versatile performer, was nominated for two Oscars this year, one for Call Me by Your Name and the other for Lady Bird. Chalamet portrayed a daring young teen who falls in love during a long hot summer in Italy in the first film. Chalamet, on the other hand, plays a fearless young adolescent who refuses to fall in love with his brief love interest in Lady Bird. McPherson, Christine “Lady Bird”.
3. Ivory’s shirt
What if Chalamet could be worn as close to the heart as possible? That’s the precise question screenwriter James Ivory was attempting to answer by attending the Oscars wearing a tee with Chalamet’s serious face painted on it. Andrew Mania, the artist behind the shirt, is now offering duplicates if you’re interested (and who isn’t?).
4. Mom’s the word
“How a man treats his mother tells you all you need to know,” as the saying goes. Instead of bringing a hot date to the awards season this year (which he could have easily done), the actor chose to bring his adoring mother, Nicole Flender. There aren’t enough? In the world right now to show our love.
