There was a time when I knew Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra very closely. They are both July born, their birthdays separated by two days, Katrina on July16 and Priyanka on July 18. Star signs and horoscopes be damned .The one thing that can be said about the two of them is, they are nothing like one another.
While Priyanka is very practical and not prone to lose her heart over her head, Katrina thinks with her heart. For her , relationships are more important than her career. I am not too sure Priyanka would set aside everything for love the way Katrina did for Ranbir. I don’t think Katrina has been more in love than she was during that phase of her career. Everyone who knew Katrina, knew she was a girl in love. Starry-eyed, head in the cloud, she was building her marital dreams brick by brick piece by piece when it all came crashing down.
I don’t think Katrina will ever be in love in the same way again.
Of course, Priyanka Chopra too is a girl in love. But Priyanka doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve. Her emotions are dictated by hard-headed logistics. There is no head-over-heels in her case.
I remember how shattered Priyanka was when her father’s serious health condition was diagnosed.Beyond doubt the worst phase of her life was when her father fell ill.On the day after she found out his condition, she was on the sets of Rohan Sippy’s Bluff Master shooting normally. No one had a clue about the turmoil she was going through.
In the evening when her co-star Abhishek Bachchan was on the phone with me I mentioned Priyanka’s pain to him. That was the first he heard of it.
“Why should I burden those around me with my pain?” she asked me.“I’m sure they’ve their own worries.I’ve mine to deal with.I wouldn’t like it if they started unburdening their problems on me.”
Katrina , I think needs a shoulder to lean on . Salman Khan is that go-to shoulder. It’s a pity they never took their relationship to the marriage mandap. Salman could have been the Nick Jonas in Katrina’s life.
