2015 Malayalam super hit film Premam needs no introduction. The film starred Nivin Pauly, Sai Pallavi, Madonna Sebastian, and Anupama Parameswaran. The film became one of the super hits at the Kollywood box office.
However, not many know why everyone loved Malar, the lead character in the film, essayed by Sai, almost went to Asin before the director roped in Sai for the role.
Talking to fans on social media, the director said, ” In the beginning when I wrote the script it was Malayalam. I wanted Asin to act in Malar’s Malayalam version. The character was from Fort Kochi… I couldn’t contact Asin. Nivin also tried. Then I gave up the idea and wrote it in Tamizh. This is in the beginning stage of the script. I studied in Ooty when I was too young and then did my film studies in Chennai. That is why the strong Tamizh connection.” As quoted by Pink Villa.
However, things did not work the way, how the director wanted. Sai Pallavi, earned love with her strong performances on the screen over the years, what’s more, the way she embraced her no makeup look keeping it all bold and natural with her skin textures, the actress became one of the most respected stars in the nation.
