Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions was to start work on its most-anticipated film Dostana 2, and the announcement for the same was also made with big noise. Actors Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor were earmarked by Karan Johar to play the lead roles. It is even believed that the shoot had begun with a lot of filming having happened for the film. But an unfortunate development happened post which there was a major fallout between Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan which resulted in Aaryan not being part of the film. This had delayed the film for a long time.
But recent reports had suggested Akshay Kumar getting lucky, after bagging the lead role in the now to be revamped film. A report on koimoi.com talked about this and we take reference from that story for our write up here.

A Bollywood Hungama report quoted a source as saying, “There was a strong buzz all across that Dostana 2 would be completely reshot with slight tweaking in the script. There was also a talk about Karan Johar approaching his close friend, Akshay Kumar to step into Kartik’s shoes.”
