South Actor Sudeep has recently taken a slight dig at the Bollywood industry after the massive Pan-Indian success of KGF2. The debate has taken on the heights after Sudeep was heard talking about the success of the film in a video and mentioned how Hindi is not a national language, and it is their movies that are garnering success in the country. He also said in his tweet about Hindi Imposition.
In a video that got viral on the internet, we could hear Sudeep referring to the success of KGF 2 while taking a slight dig at the Bollywood industry, saying, “You said that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I’d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling (to find success) by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it’s not happening. Today we are making films that are going everywhere.”
He also took it to Twitter, saying, “correct it, Hindi is no more the National Language, its no more a National language”! In a film launch & huge applause from the crowd & the media. Hope the efforts of Kannada activists are reaching the intended places.??#stophindilmposition”
The debate around Hindi being the national language escalated after Home Minister Amit Shah said at the Parliamentary Official Language Committee, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided that the medium of running the government is the Official Language, and this will definitely increase the importance of Hindi. Now the time has come to make the Official Language an important part of the unity of the country. When citizens of States who speak other languages communicate with each other, it should be in the language of India.”
