On Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan hosted the incredibly entertaining #AskSRK session. Many people wanted to know when his next feature was coming out. Shah Rukh Khan has been quiet since the release of Zero in December 2018, and no new projects have been announced. However, Rajkumar Hirani’s next, Siddharth Anand’s next, Atlee’s next have all been rumored, and Raj and DK have confirmed that they are working on a film with Shah Rukh Khan.
However, there has been no official confirmation or declaration from Shah Rukh Khan himself. Many fans asked him about his future project during the session yesterday, and SRK kept evading the subject with humorous remarks. When a fan asked him which of Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese he preferred as a director, he responded with his typical humor and hinted at a film with Rajkumar Hirani. “Wow, both are amazing, and I’ve met them…but Raju Apna sa lagta hai…nahi?” he replied.
While it’s unclear whether Shah Rukh Khan’s next film will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani or not, did you know that the superstar was the first option for the role of good-hearted villain Munna Bhai in the maverick filmmaker’s debut film Munna Bhai MBBS? Likewise, he was considered the frontrunner for the role of Rancho in Hirani’s 2009 hit 3 Idiots.
Initially, Shah Rukh had signed on for Munna Bhai MBBS, and Sanjay Dutt was cast in the part of Zaheer, which was eventually performed by Jimmy Sheirgill in the film. Shah Rukh was also engaged in the screenplay of the film, and Hirani used some of his suggestions. King Khan, however, had to withdraw from the picture owing to a back ailment. However, Hirani acknowledged and praised him in the film’s opening credits for his contributions to the writing.
