Rajesh Khanna was an unrivaled superstar in the late 1960s. No one had ever succeeded in releasing 15 box office hits before him or even after his run of big movies. And Kaka, as he was affectionately called, made the decision to wed Dimple Kapadia, who was just 16 years old at the time, at the height of his professional success. When the Raj Kapoor picture was finished, Dimple left the cinema industry to pursue marriage while Bobby, her debut film, was still in production. Even when she came back years later, things were different because Kaka and she had already split up.
In a previous conversation with Khalid Mohamed, the Luck by Chance actor revealed that Rajesh Khanna was a “misunderstood” man. Dimple has spoken openly about her marriage numerous times. “Kaka (Rajesh Khanna) has frequently been misinterpreted. He’s a great man. We got married when I was far too young and reckless. Despite the fact that we are no longer together, I still adore and respect him greatly. Therefore, don’t even attempt to get me to say anything negative. Kaka’s superstardom had to be seen to be believed,” according to her.
Dimple had discussed her choice to wed Kaka, who was over twice her age at the time, in another conversation with Khalid. She had stated that she shared the same admiration for him that hundreds of other women did around the nation. “I used to enjoy Kaka (Rajesh Khanna), his films, and his overpowering romantic image. I have a big problem with that since I believe in romance. I don’t perform at a normal level because I read too much into things that aren’t there. I get distracted,” she admitted.
