There’s no doubt over the fact that the quality of music that is being produced in the music industry today has substantially gone down when we compare it to the 90s. Earlier, there was a different value attached to original compositions and because of that, the industry got many original voices who still have their impact left in the music fraternity. The likes of Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Abhijeet and Sonu Nigam are some of the noteworthy names in this regard.
But in today’s time, almost majority of the tracks being made in Bollywood are remixes and reprises of old compositions. At a time like this when the industry has hit an all-time low and we haven’t received many quality singers who don’t rely much on technology, talents like Arijit Singh are nothing less than a blessing.
We saw a similar trend in the 80s when the decade was dominated with songs of Kishore Kumar and Md. Rafi but Kishore Kumar’s all-round ability kept him as the frontrunner in the race. It was he who set new standards in the music industry then, the legacy of which was followed by the artistes of the 90s.
We see a similar situation in Bollywood today where the industry is primarily dominated by one name which is Arijit Singh. His romantic and emotional songs have the same impact on people today which songs of Kishore Kumar used to have on people in the 80s.
So due to all these reasons, can it be said that Arijit Singh is the modern-day Kishore Kumar of the music fraternity? Let us know your views in the comments below and for more updates, stay tuned to IWMBuzz.com
