Amaal Mallik is a vocalist, composer, music producer, arranger, background scorer, performer, and lyricist from India. Daboo Malik and Jyothi Malik are his parents, and he is Sardar Malik’s grandson.
On his birthday, musician Armaan Malik resorted to social media to send a special message to his older brother, singer-composer Amaal Mallik.
Armaan shared a few stills with his brother and wrote: “Tedha mera mera… Happy birthday to my brilliant older brother! I owe all I am today to you, mocha kiss @amaal mallik, and I adore you.”
Amaal sent a letter on social media the day before his birthday, suggesting that artists who do covers or mashups give credit to composers and lyricists.
Amaal shared the following on Instagram: “A lot of singers (especially the up-and-comers and those on reality programs) make versions and mashups of songs without giving credit where credit is due. I’d like to make a serious request. Please give credit to the composers and lyricists of the song, not simply the singer.”
“With all due respect to the vocalists, a song is a collaborative effort, and crediting only one individual or the vocalist is incorrect. Furthermore, failing to credit the creators (writers) is immoral. No one cares about your credit, but it’s the correct thing to do”, Amaal penned.
“This used to happen on radio stations as well,” he continued, “but I believe they have altered their methods now (hopefully).”
