Astro Cha Eun Woo’s Successful Acting And K-pop Singing Career

Cha Eun-woo, a singer and actor, is currently number one on iTunes charts all around the world, not with his boy band ASTRO but rather with a solo song he wrote for a webtoon's soundtrack.

The day after its release in six countries—Argentina, Chile, Oman, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates—his single “Focus on Me” shot to the top of the iTunes Top Song Charts.

In countries including the Philippines, Qatar, Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Thailand, the song is also very popular.

Think about me “is Cha’s rendition of the 2021 song of the same name by the musician Coffeeboy. The romance fantasy Kakao Webtoon soundtrack includes Cha’s rendition “The Villainess is a Marionette” by Mangle was adapted from Han Yi-original rim’s web book of the same name, which was published on KakaoPage between 2018 and 2021. Since February 2021, the webtoon version has been available on Kakao Webtoon.

As a result, Cha was not present in the first teaser videos for “Focus on me,” which instead showed an animation of Kayena Hill and Regef Hill, the main characters of the webtoon.

In November of last year, Cha recorded “Don’t Cry, My Love” for the soundtrack of Ridibooks’ romance-fantasy web novel “Under The Oak Tree.”

As a member of the boy band ASTRO, Cha made his public debut in February 2016 with the group’s debut EP, “Spring Up.” MJ, JinJin, Moonbin, Rocky, Sanha, and Cha make up the six-person band. They are best known for the songs “Crazy Attractive Cool” (2017), “Blue Flame” (2019), “Knock” (2020), and “One” (2021).

Although Cha had his public debut as a K-pop idol, his acting career began before his music career. Cha had a little part in the movie “My Brilliant Life” before making his official ASTRO debut (2014). Although Cha’s true name is Lee Dong-min, he adopted the alias Cha Eun-woo after portraying the character in ASTRO’s pre-debut promotional web series “To Be Continued” (2015).

Even among people who know little about K-pop idols, Cha immediately gained a reputation for his attractiveness. His moniker has come to stand for a really attractive man in Korea.

Cha has also had a successful career as a K-drama hunk. He began with web series including “My Romantic Some Recipe” on Naver TV (2016), “Sweet Revenge” on Oksusu (2017), and “Top Management” on YouTube Premium (2018). In the JTBC drama “My ID is Gangnam Beauty” in 2018, he received his first major television lead role. He starred in the main role in the MBC historical dramas “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung” (2019) and “True Beauty” (tvN) (2020-21).

Cha will appear in the drama “Island” and the movie “Decibel” this year (working title).

In addition to “Rainbow Falling” for “My ID is Gangnam Beauty,” “Together” for “Top Management,” “Please Remember” for “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung,” and “Love so Fine” for “True Beauty,” Cha frequently performs original soundtrack songs for the films in which he stars. However, aside from original soundtracks, Cha has not had a formal solo debut.
