At the 2021 BET Awards, Zendaya bowed down to Queen Bey in the most elegant way possible. The Emmy winner donned the same Versace gown as Beyoncé did in 2003 when she attended the ceremony. “Crazy In Love,” the actor captioned a photo of herself donning the archival outfit that pays homage to the artist.
Versace’s dress dates back to the Spring/Summer 2003 season. Zendaya’s longtime stylist Law Roach uncovered it for the event after so many years. Queen Bey’s 2003 dress was a tiny version of Zendaya’s with a pleated, ultra-high hem, whereas Zendaya’s had a longer flowy, maxi-length skirt.
The Versace gown was worn by Beyonce for her debut solo performance at the BET Awards, when she sang her track Crazy In Love, almost 18 years ago, as the caption of the Euphoria actor’s Instagram image stated. Beyonce had just made her solo debut and was performing alongside her now-husband Jay-Z at the time.
Law Roach also showed a glimpse of Beyonce’s 2003 gown, which inspired Zendaya’s style. He posted parts of the Grammy winner’s performance on the BET Awards stage, where she was dressed in Versace minis. Zendaya’s sultry and carefree look was captured in a slow-motion video by Law Roach, who shared it on Instagram. The deep purple suit has lime green embellishments and waistline cut-outs.
