A seven-member South Korean boy band called The Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, was formed by Big Hit Entertainment. Later, in July 2017, the name became a backronym for Beyond the Scene. On June 12, 2013, they performed “No More Dream” from their debut album, 2 Cool 4 Skool, in honor of their launch on June 13, 2013. They won awards for New Artist of the Year for the song “No More Dream” at the 2013 Melon Music Awards, the Golden Disc Awards, and the 2014 Seoul Music Awards, among other ceremonies.
The band’s fame increased with their next albums, Dark & Wild (2014), The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2 (2015), and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever (2016), which both peaked in the U.S. Billboard 200. At the 2016 Melon Music Awards, Young Forever’s album, The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, went on to win Album of the Year.
Wings (2016), the second full-length album from the group, debuted at #26 on the Billboard 200, making it the highest charting K-pop album ever. The Gaon Album Chart at the time indicates that Wings became the best-selling album in South Korea. The trio was voted Artist of the Year at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards after being one of BTS’s first “million sellers” after selling more than 1.5 million copies. Love Yourself: Her, the group’s subsequent album, debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200, which is the highest place ever by an Asian artist.
The oldest and newest members of the group, Jin and Jungkook, are known as BTS’s Tom and Jerry pair and are known for their funny arguments and outrageous pranks. Nothing is off-limits with these two, and it’s obvious that everything they do is motivated by friendship. This includes playful teasing and jokes played at each other’s expense.
