Kim Nam-Joon, commonly known as BTS RM, was born on September 12, 1994, in Ilsan-gu, Goyang, South Korea. He was raised in Seoul along with his younger sister, Kim Geong Min. He was fascinated by uniforms in elementary school and wanted to work as a security guard for a housing society.
A well-known South Korean rapper, songwriter, and producer who goes by the stage name Rap Monster and is also part of the hip-hop group Bangtan Sonyeondan, RM is from BTS (BTS). In addition, his South Korean followers commonly refer to him as “Rapmon.” He was a fantastic understudy and excelled in the classroom. He developed a passion for rapping early on and decided to pursue it as a career. Before joining the “BTS,” he performed independently and sang with a few regional ensembles. After joining the “BTS,” he rose to become the group’s leader and its primary rapper and songwriter. He has collaborated with well-known rappers from Korea and worldwide to produce music that has gained popularity.
Under the alias “Runch Randa,” Kim Nam-Joon began his solo music career. He performed in 2008 with the group “Zico,” one of the most popular hip-hop acts in South Korea at the time. He also played a significant role for a considerable period of time in the Korean hip-hop group “Daenamhyup.”
Later in 2013, he became a member of the renowned K-pop group BTS, also known as the Bangtan Sonyeondan, and earned the nickname “Rap Monster” among his supporters. In June 2013, he released a single collection called “2Cool 4 Skool” with BTS, featuring the popular song “No More Dream.” He then wrote the lyrics for numerous BTS songs, becoming the group’s leader, and the primary Rap Monster is currently a single man and hasn’t been known to date anyone in particular. In a previous interview, he acknowledged that if he ever had a romantic partner who was not involved in the company, he would have to constantly apologize to her for his busy schedule, which prevents him from having time for activities like dating.
Nevertheless, at the 2013 Golden Disk Awards and Melon Music Awards, Rap Monster received recognition. In addition, he received recognition at the Seoul Music Awards and Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards in 2013.
