Composer And Singer Vishal Mishra Admits Struggling To Stay Creative Amid The Pandemic; Says, ‘It’s More Of A Mental Lockdown…’

Composer-singer Vishal Mishra admits that writing a love song amid these uncertain times has turned out to be his biggest challenge

The music business has yet to fully recover from the pandemic’s negative impacts, and the stagnating live environment is taking its toll not just financially, but also creatively. Vishal Mishra, a composer-singer, agrees, adding that he, too, is battling to stay creative.

Everything is difficult, and it isn’t simply the lack of concerts. It’s more of a mental than a physical lockup. So, when you’re trying to accomplish something creative, it’s a very different environment. “We have to move outside of the negative, which is difficult,” he admits.

The Kaise Hua (Kabir Singh, 2019) and Selfish (Race 3, 2018) hitmaker reveal his biggest issue is not being able to step out of his comfort zone.

“Everywhere we look, there’s a lot of negativity. So, writing a love song is really challenging because your creative reality is supplanting the reality that exists in the world right now. So, to be creative in your mind and produce a love song is a difficult task,” he argues.

Mishra, who just released a love song called Tumse Pyaar Hai, applauds the efforts of musicians who have brought a sense of romanticism and positivism into their works during difficult times.

He feels that everyone who has worked on this in the previous two years is as good as a frontline worker… since we are actually serving the public. “It’s tough to be artistically joyous right now,” admits the singer, who got his start in music through a reality program.

Indeed, Mishra claims that he has been doing his best to amuse people and leave a positive legacy via his work.

From the previous shutdown till now, anything he has released has benefited him because of the amount of love and admiration that his work has received. It motivates him to create (more) songs. That is why, in these times of negativity, he hopes he can continue to entertain people and provide them with positive reinforcement.
