Britney Spears has terminated her six-day Instagram exile, saying she “couldn’t stay away” for long on the popular social media platform. On Monday, the 39-year-old singer restored her Instagram account, which she had abruptly erased on September 14.
Britney shared a few selfies on Instagram, writing, “Here are a few photos from my weekend getaway to celebrate my engagement to my… FIANCE… I still can’t believe what I’m seeing! I couldn’t stay away from Instagram for much longer, so I’m already back!”
After fans voiced anxiety about her departure from Instagram last week, the singer took to Twitter to reassure them that she would be back soon. She announced she was taking a break from social media after her engagement to actor and fitness fanatic Sam Asghari in the tweet. Britney’s long-term boyfriend Asghari proposed to her two weeks ago on Instagram.
For the past four years, the pair have been dating. Britney has been routinely engaging with her fans via Instagram, providing updates from the case and thanking her supporters, despite her legal battle with her father Jamie Spears to end her 13-year conservatorship.
Spears and Asghari took to Instagram on September 12 to announce their engagement. In a post to her Instagram account, Spears flaunted her engagement ring while kissing Asghari.
