The South Korean boy band BTS, often known as the Bangtan Boys, was formed in 2010 and had its public debut in 2013. A significant percentage of the septet’s original music is co-written and co-produced by the musicians’ Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
In a recent behind-the-scenes video posted to their official YouTube page, BTS discussed their experience shooting the music video for “Yet To Come.” There are numerous allusions to BTS’s past throughout the music video. Each item they used, according to Suga, is an “honor to things we’ve done in the past.”
The choice to film in the desert, according to RM, was deliberate because the wide, barren landscape mirrored BTS’s debut experience. The band members reflected on their prior experiences while filming a music video that made so many references to their adolescence.
The members were seated on chairs that were organized similarly to how they were in the group’s “Just One Day” music video in one of the shots for the music video.
As they waited to film, Jungkook and J-Hope couldn’t help but get up and mimic a portion of the song’s choreography. V remembered a desert being mentioned in one of their songs when he saw the video.
The members of BTS sing about feeling “lost between the deserts and seas” in the song “Lost.” Humorously, V, J-Hope, and RM wondered if there were ants in the desert. Eventually, RM remembered the right line about the ant.
Finally, one of the creative team members said as they were moving as a unit that it was reminiscent of BTS’s “Epilogue: Young Forever.” J-Hope put his hand on Jin’s shoulder and started singing the song.
The BTS members were committed to encapsulating the essence of their nine-year journey.
