Theodore, a brown teddy bear with a purple nose and a yellow Drew logo shirt, is the beating heart of Drew House. Justin Bieber co-founded the apparel company with his longtime friend and former stylist Ryan Good, and Theodore was the first drawing Gianpiero gave to him. At the beginning of this year, the trio formally debuted the brand.
Drew House designer Gianpiero D’Alessandro said to Billboard, “Theodore signifies a moment of security for me.” “As kids, we used to cuddle our teddy bear when we were terrified.” “For me, Drew House was a remake. I came through a really difficult phase in my life when I considered quitting up everything after ten years because I didn’t have the appropriate stimulus to keep doing work. So Theodore represents the hope of never giving up in my eyes.”
Gianpiero’s artistic peak is represented by Theodore, while Bieber’s artistic rebirth is represented by Theodore. In 2018, the musician claimed he was suffering from Lyme illness and married model Hailey Baldwin. Before these life changes, he battled the dehumanizing cookie-cutter image that youthful stars are supposed to have. Bieber has settled into what looks to be his actual nature, all portrayed via Drew House, after taking time away to care for himself.
For most of January, the designer has been in Los Angeles, working on a “secret” Drew House project with Bieber, Good, and the rest of the crew. That may mean anything from a new clothes capsule to more Gianpiero characters to streamlined with new Bieber songs or a worldwide tour wardrobe, but the messaging will remain the same.
“Drew House is a place where you can be yourself and express yourself,” adds Gianpiero. “You may wear bright and vivid colours and feel quite comfortable.” A world where everyone is happy and nothing has been tampered with. Let’s help each other share joy.”
