He made it plain that he has no desire to become a Bollywood celebrity, but that he enjoys music. ‘No superstar can tell me this music won’t work or that another song will work better,’ Diljit remarked, adding that none of it works on him.
In ‘Udta Punjab,’ Diljit Dosanjh had a strong Bollywood debut alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt. Since then, he’s starred opposite Anushka Sharma and Taapsee Pannu in a number of films. According to recent reports, however, the actor and singer has stated that he has no desire to become a “Bollywood celebrity.” Diljit, whose single ‘Lover’ has Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh obsessed, made news on Monday when he chose to remain silent about his thoughts on the Hindi cinema industry and its stars. When asked if he enjoyed his time in Bollywood, the celebrity responded, much to everyone’s astonishment, that he would ‘prefer to remain silent’.
He went on to say that Punjabi artists are self-sufficient and that this gives them a lot of freedom. He believed that music was a place where he could create whatever he wanted because no one could stop him.
Film Companion reported Diljit as saying, “And he don’t give a damn about obtaining jobs in Bollywood.” The 37-year-old actor-singer was also questioned about his work in Hindi cinema. “If he speak up about it, it’ll become a major thing,” he said, according to reports.
“It’s better to remain away from all of this,” he continued. “Everything is revealed via our eyes. Using words isn’t necessary. And filmmaking is the type of medium where having lines isn’t required. our face, expressions, and eyes are all things that disclose everything about us. Nobody fascinates him, not an actor, not a director, not a single person. In their own homes, they can be celebrities.”
“Perhaps he should have said this before,” Diljit continued.
