Diljit Dosanjh, a singer, and actor, is a guy of few words. When the beloved singer does get frank, though, he makes sure you pay attention to every word he says. Here are five instances in which Diljit spoke candidly about his profession, choices, views, and fears, revealing the person behind the façade.
1. Diljit Dosanjh is a stand-up comedian with a remarkable sense of humor.
No, we’re not talking about his films here; we’re talking about off-screen encounters with him. Do you recall his Badshah appearance on Koffee With Karan? It was an unexpectedly delightful package. Because the majority of the audience anticipated Diljit to be his usual calm and restrained self during his interviews. However, emcee Karan Johar managed to get under Diljit’s skin (in a nice manner), with DD unleashing one-liners after one. Diljit stated that even as a child, he would go to the gurdwara to pray for only one thing – “Bhagwan, please make me famous, main kisi ko naa janoon.”
2. Diljit also talked about his (former) obsession with American superstar Kylie Jenner, as well as previous romances, eliciting further laughs from KJo and Badshah.
3.”Ek hi kami hai mere mein bas, mujhe English nahi aati.
(My only flaw is my lack of English language skills).” This is what Diljit claimed in a mid-2020 interview with film critic Anupama Chopra. The artist has always been forthright about his alleged flaw.
4. Dosanjh has earlier expressed his reluctance to visit Karan Johar’s Dharma office in Mumbai in a BBC interview with Haroon Rashid.
Presumably referring to Good Newwz, Dosanjh stated that he had previously been promised a film by the same production studio, but that the part was eventually given to someone else. So when Dosanjh was summoned again, he had his misgivings. “Main jana nai chahta tha mujhe nai laga tha ye log film denge, mujhe nahi laga tha… Unhone audition nahi karwaya Or kehte to phir main karta bhi nahi, kyunki mujhe pehle nahi film di, to main pehle hi gussa tha.’
5. In the same BBC interview, the singer-actor claimed that he is a very ‘detached guy,’
Referring to attending parties and being lured to all the attention that industry has to offer once you become famous. “I’m not hooked on anything in particular. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, and I’ve never used drugs in my life. When I need to recharge, the only thing I do is say Gurbani in the morning while showering. All I need is a breather and I’m ready to take on the day,” the singer remarked.
