Julien Macdonald, a Welsh designer, had no idea that learning to knit from his mother would help him establish his entire career. The master, a graduate of London’s Royal College of Art, was founded by the late Karl Lagerfeld and hired at Chanel, where he designed knitwear for Alexander McQueen. In 2001, he was named as McQueen’s successor and given the title of Chief Designer at Givenchy, as well as being named British Fashion Designer of the Year!
In 1997, he founded his own label, and since then, he has become a favorite among Indian and international celebrities.
In one of his pieces, American supermodel Gigi Hadid wore a laser cut-back jumpsuit for a provocative look on the red carpet.
Jennifer Lopez, a musical sensation, chose a black cut-out dress by the designer for an edgy appearance at the Billboard Music Awards a few years ago.
At the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party, Taylor Swift shone in a beautiful glittery full-sleeve body-hugging gown. We adore the contrast between her red lip and the sparkling black gown!
In a gold little dress from the designer with tassels all around, Selena Gomez made a dazzling picture. Her braided hair and peep-toe shoes went perfectly with her ensemble.
The use of fur was one of the most contentious issues that plagued the designer. The designer declared that he would not stop using it in his designs, and he and Paris Hilton were even flour bombed for it! In subsequent years, Macdonald apologized for his use of fur and remarks about it.
