Following their exit from JYP Entertainment, GOT7’s JAY B, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Mark, Jackson, Yugyeom, and BamBam are no longer labelmates, but their proximity as a group lives on, as they’ve shown with their single “ENCORE.” The members went to different firms to follow their solo careers, and it’s inspiring to see how far they’ve progressed in their own fields.
Here’s a summary of how each member of the GOT7 has been exhibiting his unique talents this year.
1. JAY B
JAY B has been focusing on his music career since he joined H1GHR MUSIC and retired from his old stage name JB. He debuted his latest solo career with the release of “Switch It Up,” a collaboration with rapper Sokodomo. A few months later, he released his EP “SOMO: FUME,” which included a collaboration with Jay Park on the title track “B.T.W.” He also played “Toad’s House” in “The King of Mask Singer.” JAY B finally released “I’m Surfin'” on September 3 as part of the “Feel the Rhythm of Korea 2” advertising campaign.
2. Jinyoung
Jinyoung signed with the renowned acting agency BH Entertainment, and his new drama “The Devil Judge,” in which he co-starred with actor Ji Sung, has been sweeping the small screen this summer. Moon Yoo Suk, the drama’s writer, lauded his acting, praising his sincerity and commitment in portraying the role. He also debuted his new self-penned digital single “DIVE,” which was announced just hours before its planned release, much to the joy of his fans. He’ll also be seen in the upcoming drama “Yumi’s Cells,” in which he’ll portray a popular, attractive, and charming office worker.
3.Youngjae
Youngjae, who has been marked with Sublime Artist Agency, is another member who has been engaged in acting. He was cast in the lead part of Ha Ram in the musical “Midnight Sun,” which ranged from May 1 to July 25. The idol-actor also appeared in the Netflix sitcom “So Not Worth It” as a member of a group of international students living in a Seoul university hostel. He’s now working on his record, which he hopes to release by the end of the year.
4. Mark
Following the expiration of his contract, Mark loaded his belongings and said his goodbyes to his fellow members before returning to his hometown of Los Angeles. He unleashed “One in a Million,” a duet single with Sanjoy, in February. He joined with Creative Artists Agency, an American talent and sports agency, a few months later (CAA). Mark’s farewell video was released on his YouTube channel before he left Korea.
5. Jackson
Jackson’s label, TEAM WANG, signed a commercial deal with Sublime Artist Agency shortly after his contract with JYP Entertainment expired. This new pact will encompass international trade, including Korea and China. A few months later, Jackson surprised fans by teaming with Rain on the b-side tune “MAGNETIC” off Rain’s most recent album. Jackson then released his track “LMLY (Leave Me Loving You),” which he performed on James Corden’s “The Late Late Show.” Jackson recently released “Drive You Home,” an English collaboration with Internet Money for which he once again demonstrated his directing abilities in the music video.
6. Yugyeom
Soon after exiting JYP Entertainment, Yugyeom was welcomed by AOMG. Six months later, the singer debuted as a solo artist with his first album, “Point Of View: U,” the title single of which was “All Your Fault” featuring Gray. His pre-release single “I Want U Around” featuring DeVita was a huge hit, topping iTunes charts all over the world.
7.BamBam
BamBam is presently a member of Abyss Company, which also has Sunmi and Sandara Park. With the release of his first mini-album “riBBon” and the title tune of the same name, he embarked on a new solo journey.
