Today is the 28th birthday of the outstanding rapper, singer-songwriter, and entrepreneur. Mark Yien Tuan was born into a Taiwanese-American family and spent his formative years in Los Angeles, California, before traveling to Paraguay and Brazil for a few years to train as a K-pop idol. In elementary school, he studied violin and piano classes before switching to guitar in junior high.
JYP Entertainment offered him an audition because of his striking good looks and musical talent. He was first skeptical, but his family and peers persuaded him to try it. He passed the auditions and relocated to South Korea, where he studied acrobatics, martial arts, singing, dancing, and rap in preparation for his role in Game of Thrones Season 7. GOT7 debuted on January 16, 2014, and the group left JYP Entertainment seven years later, on January 19, 2021. GOT7 has released emotional ballad music called “Encore” since leaving JYP Entertainment, which is devoted to their ever-lasting camaraderie and relationship as GOT7 members.
While the other members of the GOT7 have signed up with new agencies and are pursuing solo careers, Mark has returned to America and has been busy with a flurry of activities since leaving JYP Entertainment. Here’s a rundown of what Mark from GOT7 has been up to since departing JYP Entertainment.
