Recently Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z did a photoshoot for leading brand ‘Tiffany & Co’ and it grabbed much attention from the public. Tiffany & Co started their new campaign ‘About Love’ and they decided to cast Beyonce and Jay-Z into it.

The couple did a photoshoot with all wearing black and Beyonce-worn jewelry with which netizens seemed displeased. Beyonce wore a signature yellow 128.54 carat Tiffany diamond which was looking very beautiful on her but users of social media quickly came out with some facts and theories.

They started pointing out that the diamond worn by the Lemonade singer is actually a ‘Blood Diamond.’ They pointed out that this diamond was discovered in the year 1877 in the Kimberley diamond mines in South Africa and at that time South Africa was under British Rule.
Soon people started pointing this diamond of Tiffany as Blood Diamond or Conflict Diamond. The UN also has given a definition regarding diamonds originating from this area as “controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments”.

Soon after the controversy and backlash that Tiffany & Co started receiving from the public, the organization soon released a general statement out in the public which states “As global leaders in sustainable luxury, Tiffany & Co is committed to sourcing natural and precious materials in an ethical and sustainable manner. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward conflict diamonds, and source our diamonds only from known sources and countries that are participants in the Kimberley process.”
