Kishwer Merchant has her hands full of late. Apart from doing 3 regular plays, she just did a one off replacement in a third. “I am living off a suit case. Today, I am in Pune for Raman Kumar-directed Hello Zindagi. Tomorrow I have another edition of Rakesh Bedi-directed Patte Khul Gaye in Mumbai. Yesterday, I was in the Pink City (Jaipur) for horror play Ovee, where I had stepped in for Sayantani Ghosh.”
In between all this, she has also agreed to be a part of Star Plus show, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, where she will come in place of Tanaaz Irani, who had quit, being unable to balance both work and kids.
“I will start shooting for them soon. One of the best things for this negative role is that it is set in Film City, so I will not need to travel to Naigaon every day.”
Shifting gears to her multiple plays, Kishwer says, “Hello Zindagi’s story is about 5 women who live in Delnaz Paul’s do-gooder character’s house. I play her bahu’s friend. It is all about women bonding. Minissha Lamba, Guddi Maruti and Chitrashi Rawat complete the casting.”
“Patte Khul Gaye, on the other hand, is a take on over-dependence on technology and moral facade”. (We had just written about it recently).
“Wrong Number, also starring Rakesh Bedi and Tanaaz Irani, besides me and others, is a comedy of errors about marriage and infidelity.”
“Last but not the least, I had a blast doing Ovee. While it was very tough, for I hardly got 2 days of rehearsals, I really went crazy on set, trying to figure out what to do. Yet, it was fun.”
“It is a challenge to do so many different characters, back to back. This is a far cry from TV, where we end up doing the same stuff for years on end.”
These days, any interview is incomplete without a reference to Bigg Boss.
Kishwer, who herself has been part of Bigg Boss 9, and a big time follower of this season as well, seems to be of the opinion that there might be more wild entry cards to suit the 5-week extension. “I am looking forward to them.”
“The whole drama has become a sort of mish mash, with Paras Chhabra changing sides from Asim Riaz to Sidharth Shukla. This season is more about relationships, with exes getting into the house.”
When asked about Himanshi Khurana, she says, “Apart from the romance angle with Asim, she is doing nothing.”
“Although everybody is targeting Arti Singh for being confused, I think she is playing a better game than Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Rashami Desai. The latter has no strategy and input, other than needling Shukla. I wonder why both of them were brought back in the first place,” she ended.
