Kim Nam-Joon aka RM is the leader and rapper of the South Korean Kpop group BTS. He is also the spokesperson of the group and does most of the English interviews because he is more fluent in English than other BTS members.

We all go to school or take a course to learn a foreign language. But in RM’s case, it was very different. Namjoon learned to talk in English by watching famous American Sitcom FRIENDS. He told the Ellen show that his mom got him all the ten DVDs of the show. He initially watched it in the Korean language with English subtitles. Then watched it in English with Korean subtitles. And for the third time he watched it in English without any subtitles.

RM told Yahoo that Chandler from FRIENDS is his favorite character and he is a fan of Ross and Rachel’s romance. It’s amusing to see how RM taught himself English by watching a show. But again anything is possible for him considering the fact that he is known to have an above-average IQ in Korea.
