1. At the age of three, Sonu Nigam performed on stage for the first time! At a live event, he performed his first song, Kya Hua Tera Wada, with his father.

2. Sonu is a linguist who is fluent in several regional languages. With clear diction, he can sing in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Kannada, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, English, Bhojpuri, Urdu, Nepali, and Marathi.

3. RD Burman considered Sonu Nigam for the 1942 Love Story song Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh. Kumar Sanu was meant to perform the song, but he arrived late, enraging composer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Sonu Nigam was instructed by Pancham Da that if Kumar Sanu did not arrive within the next five minutes, he will record the song. Sonu stated that he was hoping Sanu da would not show up, but he did. 4. Sonu’s first album, Kismat, released on the Magna Sound label, was a huge hit. The record was a blockbuster seller, and the company immediately followed by acquiring him for another Bhajan album, Sanskaar.

5. In 1999, Sonu got his first Filmfare award for the song Ishq Bina in Taal, which was composed by AR Rahman. For the title tune of Kal Ho Naa Ho, he got his first National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. For this Karan Johar film, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composed the music.

6. Sonu’s film debut was in the 1983 film Betaab as a child actor. He made his acting debut as an adult in the 2004 film Love in Nepal, opposite Juhi Babbar. He also appeared in Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani and Kash Aap Hamare Hote, among other films.
