On March 3, 1997, Camila was born in Havana, Cuba. She joined a girl group called Fifth Harmony in 2012 and gave an X-Factor audition at the same time. She was the lead singer for this group. One EP and two studio albums were released by Cabello and her bandmates. On December 18, 2016, the group announced her resignation. As the main artist, Cabello collaborated with Shawn Mendes on the smash hits “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Bad Things” by Machine Gun Kelly. 2017 saw Cabello putting the finishing touches on her first solo album. Camila collaborated with artists on songs including Cashmere Cat’s “Love Incredible” and Pitbull and J Balvin’s “Hey Ma,” earning the collaborations a Grammy nomination for the artists as well as Camila.
While Cabello was receiving recognition for her accomplishments, she also landed a partnership with Guess to represent their 2017 Fall campaign as the official Guess girl. As the opening act for Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour, Cabello was warmly welcomed. She gave a total of 20 performances. As a gift to her fans, Cabello released her smash hit track “Havana” on August 3, 2017. Due to the success of the single, Cabello later declared in an interview that “Havana” would replace the old song “Crying In The Club,” which was supposed to serve as the debut single, as the official first official single of her debut album.
Havana, the smash song, debuted at the top of the charts in over 80 other countries on iTunes. The success of “Havana” helped Camila establish herself as a solo artist and set a record for the longest period of time a female musician held the top place in 2017. Without having an album out, Camila amassed over 4 billion combined streams on YouTube and Spotify in just 11 months of her solo career, sold over 17 million units, became a multi-platinum artist with over 50 certifications, and received a total of 18 accolades. The debut album by Camila Cabello, titled “Camila,” was released on January 12, 2018, and it received over 100 #1 singles and a Metacritic score of 76. On the Billboard 200, “Camila” debuted at #1.
