Greatly respected as the ‘nightingale of India’, vocalist Lata Mangeshkar Ji, the Bharat Ratna awardee, in a truthful exchange with a prominent daily, poured beans on why Lata Ji doesn’t endorse biopics and is not willing to jot down an autobiography.
As Biopics have evolved as the essence of the time, would Lata Ji uphold a biopic on her existence? “I wouldn’t let a biopic be created on me. The reason is I don’t trust them. I don’t prefer them. As you explained, there are conversations about a biopic on Guru Dutt being created… I’m specific that some unwarranted circumstances will be included in the film. I don’t authorize that,” predicted the vocalist. But has Lata Ji permanently thought of composing an autobiography? To this, she explained. “I will never commence that. You don’t have to confront only decent folk on your excursion. There are certain decent people, but there are others who hope wrong for you. If I write about myself and speak about an occurrence where somebody did something terrible to me, I’m worried about what people will think. It will be characterized to me that the other individual is deceased, and I wouldn’t want that. Why should I implicate myself in extremely terrible situations, particularly with those who are no more?”
On being interrogated if the business has transformed over the years, Lata Ji conveyed, “Today’s actresses aren’t like the timelier ones. But that’s alright since this period is unique too. “Par aaj-Kal jo dresses pehene jaate hai use Mujhe sakht aitraaz hai” (I don’t approve of the type of clothing heroines put on these days). I don’t appreciate them. But they are all accomplishing decent work. I also love the way Priyanka Chopra acts and performs. She can drop into any act. I adore Deepika Padukone too.”
