Lata Mangeshkar is her real sister two of the most talented singers of India comes from the same family. With her incredible soprano voice, she has won many awards like 7 film fare, 2 national awards and many more. Later she was honoured with the Dada Saheb Phalke award. She is very well known for work in art forms like film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, and Rabindra Sangeets.

Including Indian and international languages she sang in more than 20 languages. She was born in a village of sangi. Her father was from the music and acting background, but she lost him when she was 9 years old. The family later moved to Kolhapur and along with Lata Mangeshkar, she started singing in order to pay the expenses of the family. At a mere age of 16, she got married to Ganpatrao Bhosle against her family’s will. Later on, she started getting project for bad girls and vamps songs but she refused it. Till 1950’s she was the singer who sang the most song at this age but unfortunately, most of her songs went unrecognized. The first song she sang was “Chala Chala nav Bala” which was for the movie majha bal. And her Hindi music debut was with the song Sawan Aaya. Her 1st solo song was for the movie Raat ki Raani.

Not only that she also made a debut in the movie Mai for which she got a lot of fame. Her song Sangdil grabbed everyone attention and was loved by all. Raj Kapoor then signed for the song ‘Nanhe munne bachche ‘ with this she got popular and started getting assignments for the future.
