On Thursday’s episode of “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Taylor Swift wore a little black dress that looked eerily similar to Princess Diana’s “revenge dress.”
Taylor, 31, looked stunning in a crystal-embellished off-the-shoulder David Koma dress ($1,879), Aquazzura shoes ($1,095), and a smear of red lipstick while promoting her “Red (Taylor’s Version)” album.
Fans immediately recognized the similarities between her V-neck dress and the late Princess of Wales’ legendary “revenge dress,” which Diana wore when Prince Charles publicly revealed his infidelities in 1994.
Lady Di wore her sleeveless Christina Stambolian design with pantyhose and pearl accessories, while Swift wore her long-sleeved version with 18k gold Mindi Mond hoop earrings.
“Taylor Swift’s Revenge Dress era,” one fan wrote on Twitter, while another added, “Not @taylorswift13 wearing the REvENgE dress?”
Many assumed the reference was made on purpose, considering “Red (Taylor’s Version)” is Swift’s second re-recorded album since her spat with music mogul Scooter Braun, who bought her master recordings in 2019.
Swift is no stranger to hidden meanings in her clothing, as fans of “All Too Well” know, from referencing prior projects with her aesthetic choices to wearing a jacket filled with hints in 2019.
It’s not the first time she’s been linked to Princess Diana; fans once claimed that her song “Tolerate It,” from her “Evermore” album, was inspired by the plot arc on “The Crown” involving Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
