Korea is known for its stunning flawless skin which is a result of amazing skincare routines and getting their makeup right! Get skincare and your makeup right with the help of these tips by the famous Korean makeup artist, Hong Hyunjeong, as per a Vogue report.
1) The first step is the right skincare
Koreans love having even-toned skin. She revealed, “I like to use a tone up cream before starting with the base makeup for brightened, clear skin.”
2) Have a light base
Korean makeup is known for its lightweight finish. “The base makeup for the skin has to be as thin as possible for the entire face. For correcting any skin imperfections, the right amount of concealers are used just in the areas needed.”
3) The Classics are the safe bet!
Koreans can be quite picky about the ingredients that got into their cosmetics. She avoids “new names that haven’t offered proven results.” She added, “Some [people] have sensitive skin and are extremely reluctant to use products with a strong fragrance, even if it’s a high-end brand.”
4) Get creative with your natural flush:
She talked about the war about the different blushers that celebs and people use. She commented, “It’s nice to see women favouring multi-tasking products that can be used on the lips and as a blusher for adding a natural flush to the face.”
5) Dew it up
Dewy glow is something you’ll see a lot in the Korean showbiz industry. She stands by serum sprays once the base makeup is done. She said, “After the base makeup is done, I like to finish off with a few spritzes of a serum spray, like the D’Alba First Spray Serum, to quickly and easily get that dewy texture.”
6) Keeping it cool
While it might not seem important, it is good to keep your skin cool before applying primers to avoid adding frequent touch-ups. She stated, “You’ll generally find me using some mask pads for cooling the skin before applying primer and two-three layers of foundation—extremely thin layers, of course.”
7) Always Moisturise!
Keeping your skin hydrated and pampering it with moisturizers can go a long way. She revealed, “Moisturizing creams are a must for Korean celebrities, and you’ll generally find them favouring hydrating formulas from Chanel, Hera Skincare, and Lagom,” she shares.
8) Get the order right!
Getting the order is quite imperative. She explained, “The order I’ve always followed for base makeup is to start with the moisturizer followed by the primer and sunscreen for sun protection through the day, before allowing the foundation to touch the skin,”
