Selena Gomez visited Paris and Milan as well, but she spent the day of the Emmy nominations in London promoting Rare Beauty’s new Kind Words Matte lipsticks and lip liners. The Only Murders in the Building actress experienced a significant fashion moment there on the same day that Steve Martin and Martin Short, her coworkers and co-stars, expressed their disappointment at her failure to win an Emmy nomination for playing like them.
In the British city, Gomez looked stylish in a yellow minidress reminiscent of the 1960s. She added to the vintage vibe with her cat-eye makeup and half-up, dark brown bouffant hairstyle.
Even while Gomez wasn’t nominated for an Emmy in the lead actress category this year, she still made history by working on the show’s production crew, which was nominated for outstanding comedy series. Gomez, who serves as the show’s executive producer, is only the second Latina to ever be nominated for producing an Emmy for a comedy.
Gomez hasn’t responded to her acting Emmys omission. However, her co-stars, Martin Short and Steve Martin weren’t shy about talking about how dissatisfied they were that her performance didn’t earn the same recognition as theirs, as both received leading actor Emmy nominations.
We’re thrilled that we received so many nominations, Martin said to Variety. Selena [Gomez] is so essential to the group and the program that we are a little disappointed that she wasn’t nominated. She sort of keeps us in check. In some respects, you could even argue that her show’s balance is to blame for our nomination. We appreciate her nomination for the position of executive producer on the show, though. For us, she is a valuable asset.
