Singer Kanika Kapoor was born in India on August 21, 1978. She grew up in Lucknow where she was born. She moved to Mumbai in 2012 to pursue a career as a vocalist. The music video for Kapoor’s debut single, “Jugni Ji,” which was released in 2012, was a financial hit. She debuted as a playback singer in Bollywood in 2014 with the song “Baby Doll” for the movie Ragini MMS 2. When it was first released, the song topped the charts. Kapoor also won numerous awards for her singing, including the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
Kapoor subsequently gained wide recognition and success for singing one of the most popular Hindi film songs, including “Lovely” and “Kamlee” for the movie Happy New Year (2014), “Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan” for the movie Roy (2015), “Desi Look” for the movie Ek Paheli Leela (2015), “Nachan Farrate” for the movie All Is Well (2015), “Jugni Peeke Tight Hai” for the movie Kis kisko pyaar karoon. She received numerous nominations and awards for Best Playback Singer for the song “Da Da Dasse” from the movie Udta Punjab (2016). She then went on to perform the songs “Hug Me” from Beiimaan Love (2016), “Luv Letter” from The Legend of Michael Mishra (2016), “Beat Pe Booty” from A Flying Jatt (2016), and “Shake Karaan” from Munna Michael (2017), all of which brought her further success.
She attended a number of parties at Hotel Taj, Lucknow in March 2020 after returning from London, despite the time being when the Indian Ministry of Health had issued a home quarantine recommendation against the coronavirus. She later tested positive for COVID-19 in a test. She was the subject of a complaint for her carelessness.
