Seohyun from Girls Generation recently appeared as a guest on the February 19 episode of the show The Manager. The idol opened up about one of her longtime friendships that started back in her trainee days! She talked about how she and Lee Hwan Hee would hang out as close friends back in the days.
She revealed that the two of them met 20 years ago at SM Entertainment when they were trainees, as per a Soompi report. She reminisced how the two of them ride in Seohyun’s car listening to BoA’s music and how they “dreamed of becoming ‘little BoA.’”
She also shared how much she relied on others as a friend as a shy 12-year-old, as per the same report. She said, “Before you joined the agency, I hadn’t said a single word to anyone”. She added, “I felt uncomfortable and scared around other people. But when you joined and they told me you were the same age, I somehow felt instantly like it was fate.”
Lee Hwan Hee also agreed, “Me too. It felt like destiny. I was able to have fun and do well because you were there too.”
Seohyun continued, “If it hadn’t been for you, I don’t know if I would have been able to endure it,” and Lee Hwan Hee told her, “There were so many times when you comforted me while I was going through a hard time.” Seohyun replied, “You comforted me a lot too.” But Lee Hwan Hee instead insisted, “But I feel like there were more times when I received comfort from you than when I comforted you.”
They talked about Lee Hwan Hee making her debut under a different agency and her wedding. Seohyun Surprised Lee Hwan Hee when she admitted, “I always felt sorry to you.” She explained further, “Because I was always so busy, so I couldn’t contact you or go see you that often. But you were always there in the same place thinking of me.”
Seohyun tearfully continued, “I’m just so thankful. I’m just so grateful to have you in my life.”
She revealed just how devastated she was when she found out that Lee Hwan Hee hadn’t made it into Girl’s Generation’s debut lineup while she had. She stated, “When I heard that only I had made it into Girls’ Generation, I didn’t feel happy at all,” She added as she burst into tears, “I just felt so sorry, and I couldn’t stop crying.” “I think I might cry now [just thinking about it]. I couldn’t bring myself to contact her. I felt so sorry, but then she contacted me to congratulate me,” she continued
Seohyun also mentions gratefully, “Just having this one friend makes me think I’ve lived my life well.”
