She has received her training from renowned scholar- musician-composers Pandit RamShreya Jha along with Pandit Vinayak Chandra Mudgalya and Pandit Vasant-Thakkar. Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki and Pandit Kumar Gandharva have taught her styling techniques.

After receiving her training in Thumri from Shrimati Naina Devi, this versatile performer received numerous awards including Padma Shri from the Government of India in the Year 2000.
At 34th Chicago international film festival in the year 1988, she received the Gold Plaque Award for her special achievements in the field of music.

Also, the Government of Uttar Pradesh awarded her Yash Bharti Samman in the Year 2015.
During the national curriculum Framework 2005, being the former member of the Central Advisory Board of Education, she headed the group that focuses discussion on the need for introducing an arts education program in the mainstream school education.

At the Nana Shirgaokar traditional Music University at Goa, she is visiting research professor.
Along with Aneesh Pradhan (her musician- composer-husband), Shubha Mudgal has established an online distribution platform where a musician can specialise in the diverse form of Indian music, and the website for the same is www.underscoreRecords.com.

This classical music maestro has written columns on music for the ‘Lounge’ section of ‘Mint’.
She has been associated with Indian classical music for the spanning three decades, learning several folk songs and compositions in Raga from her mother, who is not a trained musician.

Her forte includes Indian pops like Khayal, Thumri, and Dadra. With her deep knowledge in the classical music she has conducted Thumri Workshop at Flame University, Lavale.

Her recent project – The Bridge of Dreams- allows her musician husband and herself to come together with Sandy Evans, saxophonist, and composer from Australia.

She also organized workshop sessions with Sirens Big Bang, in Mumbai, which is a well-known Australian brand and have women musicians mainly.
