Leading Indian musician Sonu Nigam gained recognition through playback singing in Bollywood and other regional movies. Sonu Nigam has an incredibly lovely voice and an incredibly broad range of skills, becoming one of the most talented vocalists in recent memory. Sonu has had success as a playback singer since a very young age and has successfully experimented with several genres. He has performed songs in about ten different languages totaling more than 2000. At the height of his career as the highest-paid male playback vocalist in Bollywood, Sonu made the decision to scale back his workload in 2006 in order to devote more time to personal projects and live appearances.
When he performed back-to-back songs like “Sandese Aate Hain” in the 1997 movie “Border,” for which he received the Zee Cine Award, his career took off. With songs like “YehDil” from “Pardes” (1999) at one end and the title track from the movie “Kal Ho Na Ho” at the other, he moved between numerous musical genres and styles. He eventually rose to the position of the most experimental singer in the Bollywood playback industry, accepting challenging assignments from all the greatest composers, including A.R. Rahman in “Sathiyaa.” His incredible variety and ability were showcased in his collaborations with contemporary composers, such as the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio for the song “Tanhayee” in the hugely popular “Dil Chahta Hai.” He won the crowd over with his gentle, romantic performances of classics he received the Zee Cine Awards for Best Playback Singer for his renditions of the heartfelt “Dheere Jalna” from the film “Paheli” and “Suraj Hua Madhyam” from the film “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.”
Sonu Nigam used to sing every other Bollywood movie song at one point in the years 2010–2011. He has collaborated with Lata Mangeshkar and Khayyam, two musical legends from India. He holds Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, and Kailash Kher in the highest regard.
He has achieved great success in the Kannada film business in addition to Hindi. He has performed more than 600 Kannada songs to date. Songs like “Cheluve Yeke Bande” from “Majnu,” “Monalisa” song, and “Kannale Kannale,” composed by V.Ravichandran for the movie “Aham Premasmi,” have gained a lot of popularity.
