When we talk about singing, the first thing that comes to our mind is commercial singing or singing for movies, shows or jingles. There are few singers who dedicate their talent towards God. They are devotional singers. They create and sing hymns, songs and vaanis, because of their spiritual bend. Such singers are soulful and connect their spirit with God. Anamika Shrivastava is one of those beautiful singers who have dedicated her talent to the almighty. She has completely devoted her singing to devotional songs and creating a mark through the same.
Her songs are not just devoted to God, they are melodious and soulful. Listening to her extraordinary creations, it feels like it is touching your soul and leaning it closer to your God.
An architect and interior designer by profession, this talented lady, just like one of us, was leading a very simple life with her family. It was her elder daughter who encouraged her to pursue singing and her younger daughter nourished her talent. It happened accidentally for me, I just started singing on an app which my elder daughter installed on my phone. I gained appreciation and confidence that helped me to take it a step further. Usually, parents guide their children for their career, but here my daughters are my guiding light. “I am very grateful to them”, she further said with a smile.
Talking about her journey, Anamika shares, “When I recorded my first song, in the process of recording, my music director Rahul who is also a good friend, guided me and taught me the technicalities of singing. After recording a couple of songs with Rahul, I decided to learn music professionally. My first music teachers were Talat Aziz ji and Aabir Mukherjee ji. I took a few classes with Talat ji and was learning Ghazal singing and in the parallel I was learning Hindustani music and commercial music from Aabir ji”. “It was an exceptional experience to learn my hobby professionally and pursuing it further. It was a big decision, with the grace of the almighty. Though I gathered the courage and came up with my own devotional song channel with the help of my another music director Teenu Arora, who boosted me with lot of confidence and guidance. I released my first two songs based on “Maa Vaishnavi and Maa Kaali on Navratri and Diwali” and I will be releasing different devotional songs in the coming months also, she further specified.
Today, she is a successful singer with Devi Bhakti and Shiv Bhakti songs. Her latest release was Lingashtakam, which is a hymn in Sanskrit dedicated to Lord Shiva. She not only sings the songs but also feels it. It seems it is her inner soul that pulls us to her soulful creations. We wish her all the best.
