The greatest developments in search on the well-known search engine over the previous 11+ months are summarised in Google’s “Year in Search 2022.” In addition, Google has compiled a list of the top 10 searches in various categories, including persons, movies, current events, and much more.
In the category of the best songs, subcontinental melodies have triumphed over international blockbusters. Pasoori, a Pakistani singer Ali Sethi’s song, has gone viral and surpassed BTS’ Butter as the most-Googled song this year. Additionally, two songs from India are among the top 10.
The Punjabi song Pasoori, performed by Ali and Shae Gill, was made public earlier this year during the 14th season of Coke Studio. The song became trending audio on social media sites like TikTok and Instagram, inspiring several covers worldwide. However, despite BTS’s enormous global recognition, the song outperformed Butter.
Another BTS single, Dynamite, is in the top 10 songs. The only other band with multiple appearances in the list is Imagine Dragons, whose songs Enemy and Believer are now ranked fifth and sixth, respectively.
In the top 10, two Indian songs were included. Number 3 on the list is Aditya A’s Chaand Baaliyan, a viral smash similar to Pasoori that bested several international songs. The final song on the list, Srivalli, from the Telugu movie Pushpa: The Rise, came in at position 10.
According to Google’s data, Javed Ali sang Srivalli, suggesting that this song’s Hindi rendition is the one that has the highest ranking. Sid Sriram is the singer of the original Telugu version. Devi Sri Prasad is the song’s composer.
A couple more unexpected songs on the list are Backstreet Boys’ 1997 mega single Everybody, which is at number 9, and Ainsi bas la Vida, a 2014 song by French singer Indila, which is at number 8.
