Neha Kakkar was dubbed the “desi Shakira” in her formative days. She responded to the similarity in a 2013 statement by saying she was delighted.
Neha Kakkar began to sing religious songs at worship services when she was four years old to augment her family’s livelihood. She was a contestant on season two of Indian Idol and placed tenth. After the popularity of the song Second Hand Jawaani from Martini, she catapulted to stardom a few years later. She is now one of Bollywood’s greatest vocalists.
Neha stated in a 2013 interview with Hindustan Times about being referred to as Shakira: “It feels amazing to be linked to Colombia artist Shakira, I don’t want to stop after Second Hand Jawani, as we say, gaadi chal padi aur high speed main chali jaa rahi hai (the automobile has begun and is driving at a high speed).”
Kaala Chashma, Dilbar, Aankh Marey, and O Saki Saki are just a few of Neha’s popular songs. She is also well-known on social media, with 59.4 million Instagram followers.
Neha previously posted a photo on Instagram for World Music Day. “My love of music has shaped who I am today. Music is my source of inspiration and my genuine passion. Greetings to everybody!”
Several of Neha’s well-known songs are remakes of classic classics.
Neha said: “Remix or recreation is still liked a lot by listeners,” she previously told The Indian Express when questioned about the criticism she receives. “If it weren’t the case, the craze would have died out long ago. People who complain about remixes, I believe, are the same people who dance to them at parties. While recreational activities are beneficial, it is also necessary to maintain a healthy balance. Tony (Kakkar) Bhai and I have collaborated on a number of songs, but they’ve all been originals, some of which have gone on to become chart-topping hits.”
