BTS aka Bangtan Boys is a South-Korean boy band formed under BigHit Entertainment. The BTS members enjoy a massive fanbase across the globe, fans are specifically known as ARMYs.
The BTS ARMY is very protective of the BTS Members – RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook. Everything related to the boys that is said or done, the ARMY is always ready to stand for them. Although, the ARMYs don’t have any management company or so, they never fail to call out any mismanagement or lack of action, etc.
This time around, the BTS ARMY is furious at HYBE Entertainment for trying to trademark the phrase ‘Borahae’ coined by Kim Taehyung aka BTS V.
As per Korean media reports, HYBE, previously known as Big Hit Entertainment, wanted to trademark the term ‘Borahae’ by member of BTS, Kim Taehyung. According to the sources, a cosmetic brand company called LALALEES wanted to trademark the term ‘Borahae’ which earned alot of attention. Following the same, HYBE took an action and filed a plea to register a trademark for Borahae.
Based on the latest reports, the plea filed by HYBE to trademark Borahae has been rejected by KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office). The reason stated it was coined by Kim Taehyung on November 13, 2016 and “They did not accept it as it was against the principles of good faith”. It was said that the applicant is HYBE – the company, and not V. It stated that Kim Taehyung is in an employee-employer relationship with the company. Hence, they cannot apply for the right.
After learning about this, ARMY is furious as they want Taehyung to have the copyright and trademark registered in his name.
Additionally, Borahae means “I Purple You”. It also translates to I’ll love you till the end of days as said by BTS V.
