Blackpink is one of the most popular K-pop artists in the world. They are a girl group from YG entertainment with 4 members; Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa. They made their debut on the 8th of August back in 2016. They began their career with their first album Square One with quite a few hit songs. And have continued to produce hit after hit. Here is how the members were discovered! Check it out:
1) Jisoo:
According to a Koreaboo report, Jisoo has once mentioned that everyone in her family loves to sing. And the praises from family members are what fueled her desire to perform for a bigger audience, which led her to audition. She soon became a YG trainee. As a trainee, she was approached by SM entertainment as well but she declined the offer. % remained a trainee for 5 years where she worked in TV commercials, K-dramas, and music videos.
2) Jennie:
Jennie moved around quite a bit, from Seoul to New Zealand and then to America while she was young. Her heart had always been set on becoming an entertainer, especially at YG entertainment from quite a young age. So she set off to Seoul to achieve the dream. As a trainee, she made an appearance in quite a few music videos and got herself a fan base. As per the same report, the idol was terrified that she wouldn’t debut.
3) Lisa:
Lisa was a performer and dancer back in Thailand and she decided to go for a YG entertainment audition which was held in Thailand. She became a trainee in 2011. She struggles because of the language barriers. She also made quite a few appearances in music videos. She made her debut after 6 years of being a trainee.
4) Rose:
As per a Koreaboo report, Rose once mentioned, “I used to live in Australia. It was a rural neighbourhood, rather than a metropolis. So I stayed home playing the piano or the guitar and singing. My dad noticed that I like music, so he took me to audition. Before I auditioned, music had been a hobby, but once I came to Korea and realized where I stand in terms of skills, I became more passionate and competitive about it.”
She was a trainee for the shortest period among the rest.
