Lata Mangeshkar is the woman whose voice enthralled the entire country. She began her musical journey at an early age. She is the queen of melody and the most well-known voice in the country. She is the woman who reigned the Hindi music business for decades and has a unique place in the hearts of all Indians throughout the world.
When it comes to love, Lata Mangeshkar has a long and winding road ahead of her. As the saying goes, a few things must be lost in order to gain anything. Her loss, though, was in her personal life. Here’s the backstory of why she didn’t marry:
Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Lata Mangeshkar’s brother, was a friend of Raj Singh. Raj Singh was also a member of the royal family. He was a first-class cricketer and former President of the BCCI. Lata and Raj became close friends and couldn’t help but fall in love with one other afterward. He used to affectionately refer to her as Mithoo.
Raj Singh and Lata Mangeshkar planned to marry, but it was difficult since he came from a royal family and Lata was a commoner, thus Raj’s father was against it and refused to welcome Lata into their family. Raj Singh also had a great deal of respect for his father, therefore he resolved to follow his father’s wishes, but he would never do anything against his father’s wishes.
If he couldn’t marry his sweetheart, he decided to be single for the rest of his life.
Raj Singh’s choice was respected by Lata Mangeshkar, and the two remained friends till his death. Though their love story didn’t have a happy ever after conclusion, it was a love tale filled with commitment and adoration for one another. Even in death, a promise must be maintained.
