The video for Verithanam, the massively famous chartbuster from Atlee’s Bigil, which featured Vijay singing for the first time in AR Rahman’s music, has surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. The hero introduction number in the 2019 blockbuster was written by lyricist Vivek. Despite being the album’s second single, Verithanam has surpassed the video of Singappenney, the album’s first single, and become the first to exceed 100 million views. In the year 2020, Singappenney’s video received 68 million views.
Thalapthy Vijay said at the Bigil audio launch that he wasn’t sure if Rahman would call him to perform on the album. In fact, he admitted that he was apprehensive to sing this song when Atlee asked him to. Initially, the actor recorded the song with the help of Rahman’s assistant. He received a text from Atlee a few days later informing him that Rahman wanted to meet him at the studio. Worried, the actor advised Atlee not to use his voice if it didn’t fit the foot-tapping song. Vijay was surprised when he arrived at the studio to learn that Rahman wanted him to make certain changes and then re-record the entire song.
The song is immensely popular among not only Vijay fans, but also small children, who are drawn to Thalapathy’s dancing and the presence of children in the song.
