K-pop has been earning a lot of traction globally. BTS is the 3rd generation boy band that paved the wave for quite a few K-pop groups to come and the genre itself. However, many earlier groups are responsible for paving the way for them as well!
Baby V.O.X. is one of the influential 1st generation K-pop bands that every K-pop fan should know about! Sadly, the group is no longer active and disbanded quite a while ago but they made quite a few unforgettable memories for k-pop fans and paved the way for other K-pop bands to come.
This K-pop group was formed under the company D.R Music, back in 1997. The groups, the quintet’s final and best-known lineup included, Kim E-Z, Lee Hee-Jin, Kan Min-Youn, Shim Eun-Jin, and Yoon Eun-Hye. This dance group is still very well known as representatives of K-pop, as per an All Kpop report.
The band made their debut in 1997, while not every comeback was successful they still made quite a name for themselves. They released 7 albums during the 10 years that they were active from 1997 to 2006. It was rumored that the reason the group disbanded was that some of their albums didn’t turn into successes, as per the same report.
Their 3rd album which was released in 1999 Come Come Come Baby was their most memorable and successful one! The album saw a shift in their group concept. They left behind their baby doll/schoolgirl concept and exchanged it for rather edgy style funky hairdos and dark ensembles.
The band soon made it quite big in China with this album which in turn made them quite popular all over Asia. Their success was clearly noted by the industry as well. Baby V.O.X. is known as one of the prominent K-pop female groups from the ’90s and 2000s. They are also often referred to as pioneers of the Hallyu Wave.
