Why Kanye West Has Officially Changed His Name To Ye?

Previously known as Kanye West, the musician will now be known simply as Ye.

According to a communications officer with the Los Angeles Superior Court, the rapper’s motion for a name change was approved. In August, the 44-year-old actor filed the request, citing “personal reasons.” Ye was already a moniker for the rapper, who is best known for songs like Gold Digger and Stronger, and it was also the title of his album in 2018.

He tweeted shortly after the album’s release: “Kanye West’s full name is Kanye West. I’m a YE.” Now that he’s made it public, Kanye Omari West is no longer his full name. As of Tuesday, his Instagram account and website were still using his former name, despite the fact that his Twitter handle had already been changed to Ye. The new moniker has religious significance for the star, as well as being a shorter form of Kanye.

In a 2018 interview with radio DJ Big Boy, he remarked, “I believe ‘ye’ is the most regularly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you, therefore it’s I’m you, I’m us, it’s us.” “It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything,” he said.

In August, Ye released Donda, a two-hour album with 27 tracks. He then claimed that his label, Universal Music Group, had released his long-awaited 10th studio album without his permission. Other artists, including Prince, Snoop Dogg, and Sean Love Combs, have all changed their names multiple times over the years.
