When Ariana Grande posted a picture of herself on July 14 with platinum blonde hair, she looked like she could pass for Glinda the Good Witch. The “No Tears Left to Cry” singer, who will portray the iconic blonde in the movie version of the beloved Broadway musical Wicked, was pictured winking and giving the peace sign while wearing her bleached hair up in her trademark ponytail in a picture she posted to her Instagram Story.
Ariana has been immersed in the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical since arriving in the United Kingdom. The Wizard of Oz-inspired film, which is directed by Jon M. Chu and also stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, will chronicle the ever-evolving bond between the two witches.
The singer quickly posted an Instagram confirmation of the news with the cheeky remark “Thank goodness,” in which she cheekily alluded to the musical.
And it appears that the relationship between Ari and Cynthia is already very solid. In addition, Ariana posted a picture of the floral bouquet Cynthia sent her after learning of the casting. The bouquet included the following note: “Green and pink go well together. Congratulations, Miss A! This role was made just for you, and I can’t wait to go on this musical adventure with you.”
